Pray for Our Country and Our Leaders

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

Self Family/Heavenly Heritage Reunion + Aiden Flowers THIS WEEKEND!

That's right! Dad (James Self), The Great and Powerful Tashy (Ashley Self) and I will be reuniting with our Heavenly Heritage partner Jerry Williams for a worshipful experience this weekend at Union Baptist Church (I think that's the name) in Puckett, MS for their homecoming celebration this Sunday, May 4th, 2008. Dad, Jerry and I have been singing together for, gulp, 18 YEARS as Heavenly Herritage! Can you believe that??? I was TEN when I started singing with them. When I went to college and Jerry and Dad joined local based quartets, Dad, Ash and I started learning some songs as a trio, going by the Self Family. Now we're all combining our voices for a fun concert, complete with a performance by my little man, Aiden. Aiden first sang with Dad, Ash and me back in August of last year at a 5th Sunday Fellowship in New Hebron, MS and now we've created a sensation. He loves to sing! He loves the spotlight and the microphone...it's just too cute. And the girls now know what the stage is, so I'm expecting them to follow right in his footsteps. As a matter of fact, I'm already planning on getting a sound system that I can plug up in the Playroom for the kids to practice with at our new house. Here's some cute pics of Aiden singing his little heart out last year:

What a blessing it is to have such a legacy...to be able to praise God with your family side by side, and lead others to the throne. I thank God for my voice and my talent and I pray that my children will also develop a desire to worship the Lord with song. Please come see us sing if you don't have any Sunday afternoon plans. Email me for directions! Oh, and the Self Family will be singing at 11am at Brandon Day so you can also catch us there on May 10th!
